Thought for the Week - 31st March 2024
Dear Friends,
Jesus Christ is risen today!
Alleluia!
And so we celebrate
once again the mystery that is the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
We have read the Holy Week story and walked with Jesus the road marked with
suffering and pain, but now there is the new dawn, the new beginning, new life.
The apostle Paul, writing to the believers in Corinth says, ‘If anyone is in
Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see,
everything has become new!’ (2 Corinthians 5:17). What does it mean to be ‘in
Christ’? To be ‘in Christ’ means to have committed your life to following Jesus
and obeying his will for your life. To be ‘in Christ’ means to know and
acknowledge God’s love for you and to seek to please God in your life. To be
‘in Christ’ means to know that you are forgiven because of the death and
resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. To be ‘in Christ’ means to know God’s
mercy, grace and provision for your life, and to offer your life to God in
praise and worship, as Paul again, this time writing to the believers in Rome
says, ‘In view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy
and pleasing to God – this is true worship.’ (Romans 12:1). As we celebrate
Jesus risen from the dead, may we live lives that are worthy of the calling of
being disciples of Christ to the glory of God.
Grace and peace,
Neil
